Pastoral Care Overview
Pastoral Care focuses on the needs of families and individuals at St. Paul’s. While the clergy offer pastoral counseling, visitations, and referrals to parishioners in times of need, St. Paul’s offers parishioners the opportunity to serve God’s people at in a unique way. By doing so, our family in Christ is strengthened. St. Paul says in Galatians, “whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.”
If you would like more information about these ministries, or if you are interested in helping, please contact the church office.
Guild of the Christ Child
The Guild of the Christ Child is dedicated to supporting parents of those baptized at St. Paul’s. The years between birth, baptism, and the child’s enrollment in nursery school or Sunday School are almost solely the responsibility of the child’s parents. The goal of this guild is to educate about Baptism, remember the first three anniversaries of the Baptism and support the parents as they lead their child along the first steps of the path of spiritual growth. We strive to express the commitment of the parish made at the time of baptism "to do all in our power to support this person in his life in Christ".
Flower Delivery
Flower Delivery consists of a group of volunteers who give a “second life” to altar flowers by delivering them to homebound, ill or grieving parishioners, as well as to the newly baptized or wed. This ministry takes very little time after the Sunday morning services.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs)
Lay Eucharistic Visitors take communion to parishioners who are in the hospital or homebound and unable to attend a Sunday service. The elements are carried directly from the altar rail to the communicants. LEVs must be licensed by the Diocese.
Prayer Tree
Members of the prayer tree pray for all those on the parish prayer list on a daily basis and are part of a phone chain that is overseen by members of Daughters of the King. Members also meet every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd for intercessory prayers requested by parishioners. Prayer requests may be made by calling the church office or placing a prayer card in the offering plate.
RENEW
The purpose of this group is to provide support, understanding, and fellowship to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Samaritan Ministries
Samaritan Ministries is an inreach opportunity for parishioners to prepare and deliver meals, cook food for such deliveries, and freeze it at St. Paul’s. They also run errands or shop for members in need or in crisis. Please call the Samaritan Ministries coordinator to volunteer. Also, please call if you need a helping hand or know of someone who does.
Stephen Ministry
Through this program, parishioners are trained to be Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministers are Christian friends who listen, understand, accept, and pray for and with their “care receivers” who are working through a crisis or tough time.
Tape Ministry
Audio cassettes of the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service are mailed to homebound parishioners upon request. Sunday service bulletins are included with each mailing. New requests are always welcome.
