On October 4, 2008, the Diocese of Pittsburgh meets in convention. During that time the deputies will vote on constitutional and canonical changes whose intent is to sever the ties of the diocese with the Episcopal Church. The outcome of that vote will have profound implications for the parishes and people of the diocese.
There are a number of parishes, clergy, and laypeople in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, of differing theological perspectives, who are committed to remaining in The Episcopal Church as both a wise and a Godly thing to do and who believe that such a decision will lead to a hopeful future.
We would like to invite you to come to:
A Hopeful Future for the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh:
An Alternative Solution
Saturday, September 13, 2008
1 to 3 PM
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
1066 Washington Rd.
Mt Lebanon, PA
This diocesan-wide gathering will explore why we believe that staying in The Episcopal Church is the right thing to do. In addition we will lay out what an ongoing Episcopal presence in Southwestern Pennsylvania will look like should the vote for realignment pass. And we will highlight practical implications for the diocese and parishes as they move into the future. For further information, please contact St. Paul’s at (412) 531-7153.
We look forward to seeing you on September 13.
Yours in Christ,
Steering Committee
