Team 1
Dear Acolytes and Parents,
Thank you for volunteering to be an acolyte! We believe you are a special part of the worship service because:
- you represent our youth in worship
- it is the first time that some of you have been involved with St. Paul’s other than Sunday School
- you represent the future generation of the church
We have changed the scheduling arrangement of acolyting and we hope this will make your planning a little easier. Enclosed is a list of 6 acolyte teams, headed by a captain, with each team serving approximately every 6 weeks. There will be other occasions such as weddings that you will be asked to serve but it is on a volunteer basis. You will receive an email from the church as well as a phone call from your captain reminding you that you are acolyting on Sunday. Your parents will also receive an email. If you know you are not available, please inform your captain ASAP so he/she will be able to find a replacement.
As acolytes, there are a few guidelines that have been established and you, as young parishioners, have been asked to follow.
- please arrive 20 minutes before the service - 9:55 AM
- notify your captain if you are not able to serve
- be dressed and groomed appropriately for the service:
- dress slacks, shorts, skirts
- dress shoes, sandals
- please, no jeans (unless hidden by the robe such as shorts), tennis shoes, flip flops (even though flip flops are extremely popular, they are still considered bath shoes) If anyone has shoes they are willing to donate for Sunday, we will use them in case someone forgets.
Even though you are helping St. Paul’s, St. Paul’s can also help you. For those of you who in need of service hours, acolyting is a wonderful way to earn them!
We thank you in advance for your time, service, and attention to St. Paul’s. If there are questions or concerns, please call Karen Viggiano - 412 563 -3937 or email - viggiano5@verizon.net.
