Children’s Ministries

Children’s Ministries Overview

Children’s Ministries Commission plans programs to provide the children of the parish lessons on Christian values and Episcopal tradition, opportunities for age-appropriate, enthusiastic worship, and other events designed to draw them closer to God.

Church School
Classes are offered for three-year-olds through confirmation in 7th and 8th grade on Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 9:55 a.m., September through May. Children are grouped by age/grade level. The purpose of the church school program is: to complement and enhance training in the Christian faith and worship already provided by parents from the time of Baptism. Our children learn the Good News of Jesus Christ via Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience, the foundations of the Anglican tradition.

Vacation Bible School
This event is an opportunity for children, youth, and adults during the summer months. The format varies: it is somtimes offered as a daytime program for children, other times offered as family-centered evening activities. It is a Christian based program designed around a single theme and includes Bible stories, music, crafts, games, and either snacks or dinners. It is open to all children and youth in the community. Call the church office for more information or speak to the Director of Children’s Ministries.

Kids’ Word
During the main service each Sunday, children, ages 4 through 2nd grade, are invited to take part in a children’s worship program called Kids’ Word. Those children wishing to participate may follow the crucifer out of the Church at the end of the processional and return at the Peace to sit with their families. During this time, they participate in a short worship program, sing songs, and may hear a brief homily.
