Bryan graduated cum laude with a BA in Music Education from West Liberty State College where he studied piano with David Zapka, and composition with Dr. Kenneth Mahy. Bryan also holds a M.Ed. in Administration, K-12, from California University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Professional Core of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, directed by Dr. Betsy Burleigh, and is the Assistant Director of the Junior Mendelssohn Choir, directed by Dr. Susan Medley.

Bryan is on the faculty at City Charter High School, a highly successful urban charter school in the Cultural District of downtown Pittsburgh. There, he teaches Introduction to Music, (a survey of music from the Gregorian Era to Modern Pop he calls “From Monks to Funk!”), World Music Drumming, Guitar, Piano, and Chorus. Prior to City Charter High School, Bryan served the Ohio County School District in Wheeling, WV, as an elementary school music teacher.

While in Wheeling, Bryan was the Music Director for Christ United Methodist Church. While at CUMC, he implemented a Taizé service and conducted an adult Chancel Choir, a handbell choir, and worked closely with the youth director to present children’s musical productions. Most recently, he served Haven Heights United Methodist Church on Mt. Washington.
