SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION
AND CELEBRATION

Sunday School Registration is this Sunday!
Summer has been fun, but now it’s time to get ready for a great new program year! All children and youth (and their parents) are invited and encouraged to register for Sunday School, this Sunday, any time from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Say hello to many of the folks who make our Children’s Ministry so special and enjoy some special breakfast treats! All families are also encouraged to register onlinewww.stpaulspgh.org/children-youth/ so that you can participate in our new Sunday School online communication system. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Brown at lcbrown@stpaulspgh.org or 412-531-7153 ext.15.

Join Refuge at St. Paul’s at First Friday, Mt. Lebanon
This Friday, September 3, Refuge at St. Paul’s will be setting up a table, in front of Aldo’s Coffee, to promote our new Sunday evening service at the First Friday event. We will have some interactive elements as well as some promotional postcards and posters. If you are going to be at the event, stop by and grab some postcards to hand out or give to friends. Contact the Rev. Kris Opat (kris@stpaulspgh.org or 412-531-7153 ext. 35) if you would like to get involved with Refuge at St. Paul’s.

Saturday Evening Service
The Saturday evening service is held at St. Paul’s in St. Margaret’s Garden at 6:00 p.m., weather permitting, through Labor Day weekend. Otherwise the service will be held in the Chapel on the parking lot level. Please Note: Beginning Saturday, September 11 the 6:00 p.m. service will be held at Old St. Luke’s.

Music Notes
This Sunday at the 10:30 liturgy we welcome Taylor Thompson who will sing Schubert’s Ave Maria at the prelude. Taylor is a voice student of our Vocal Artist in Residence, Katy Williams. Taylor is also the granddaughter of  parishioner, Chancel Choir member and Pittsburgh Symphony Associate Principal Clarinetist, Tommy Thompson. At the Communion, Katy will sing, Ich will auf den Herren schaun from J. S. Bach’s Cantata #93. Providing Continuo accompaniment will be Eleanor Lee, Cellist.

The Canterbury Choir returns under the direction of our new Music Assistant, Bryan Sable. This choir is open to all children of St. Paul’s, grades 1-6. Bryan will be hosting an informational meeting for all interested parents on Sunday, September 26 at 9:40 a.m. in the church, immediately following the 8:45 a.m. liturgy. During this meeting, we will establish when and where rehearsals will take place, as well as disseminate all important performance dates for the first few months of the Canterbury Choir Season. We will also be establishing roles for any parent volunteers (Vesting Parents, Helping Hands and most importantly COOKIE PROVIDERS!)

If you have any questions regarding Canterbury Choir, please feel free to contact Bryan at bsable@stpaulspgh.org. Also, if you plan on attending the first informational session please RSVP to the same email address, or come introduce yourself to Bryan on any Sunday morning through September.

In September we begin regular rehearsals for the Chancel Choir which sings at the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist, the Contemporary Music Ensemble which sings and plays at the 8:45 a.m. Eucharist, and the reinstated Canterbury Choir under the direction of our Bryan Sable. The Chancel Choir will begin Thursday evening rehearsals at 7:30 p.m., September 9 in the Choir room. All interested high school and and adults are invited to join us. The Contemporary Music ensemble practices every other Saturday morning in the church and we begin rehearsals Saturday, September 4 at 9:30 a.m.
