Welcome to the Rev. Michelle Boomgaard
From the Rev. Lou Hays…
I am very pleased to announce that the Rev. Michelle Boomgaard will join St. Paul’s as Assistant Rector as of May 20, 2012. Michelle comes to us from the Church of the Redeemer, Squirrel Hill where she has been serving as Assistant to the Priest in Charge. Previously she served as Curate at St. Peter’s, Brentwood.
Michelle received her M.Div. from Yale Divinity School. Her undergraduate degree in political science and international relations is from Brandeis University, her Masters of Arts in Political Theory is from Boston College, and her Ph.D. in World Politics is from Catholic University of America. Prior to entering seminary, Michelle taught at the college level for several years. She has also served as Director of Religious Education, Youth group leader, and lay leader of children, youth, and adult education in three Episcopal parishes.
Michelle will share with Kris and me in the preaching/celebrating rotation, adult education, liturgical planning, outreach, and the broad spectrum of parish ministry. She will also have responsibility for coordinating pastoral care. Her presence will allow Kris and me to alternate on most Sundays in leading worship at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
Michelle is a native of Pittsburgh, having grown up in Monroeville. A self-professed "former choir kid," Michelle is looking forward to joining in the music and liturgy at St. Paul’s, and to making a home nearby with her cat, Callie. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and crafting. Please join me in welcoming the Rev. Michelle Boomgaard to St. Paul’s.
