“After Spring” is a feature-length documentary that focuses on the Syrian refugee crisis. As part of our efforts to support refugee resettlement in the Pittsburgh area, St. Paul’s is excited to host this film screening at the Carmike Galleria in February.
Because of the six years of conflict in Syria, millions of people find themselves living far from their homes in makeshift camps and temporary shelters. “After Spring” follows two such families living in Zaatari, the largest camp for Syrian refugees. It also shows the struggle of aid workers who fight to keep the camps operating.
Reviewers have called “After Spring” “simultaneously a portrait of the dire situation the refugees are in and a tribute to their resilience,” (Simone Amelia, The Source), and it was the audience award winner at the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival.
St. Paul’s has arranged for an exclusive, one-time showing of this documentary on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 PM at the Carmike Cinemas at the Galleria. Tickets are $15,and can be purchased here. We need to sell a minimum number of tickets in order to secure the movie, and you will see that when you go to buy your ticket. (Don’t worry, they only charge your credit card when the minimum is reached – you won’t be charged if we don’t hit the minimum). If you’d like to know more about the film, or watch the trailer, you can go to the film’s website: afterspringfilm.com.
