At its November 2016 Vestry meeting, the Vestry approved the following projects to be undertaken as part of the recent $500,000 Capital Campaign focused on energy usage and energy conservation. This list is unchanged from what was advertised during the campaign. The Vestry also approved the project priority as listed below, to be initiated based on available cash receipts:
A number of parishioners have been very generous in providing initial funding to allow several of these projects to begin. In December, all of the bulbs in the chandelier lights in the main church were replaced with LED bulbs, thus saving the Church substantial energy costs. Negotiations are underway to replace the windows in the Choir Room with windows of the same manufacturer that were installed in the Education Building during the last capital campaign. Also, the Boiler Room door will be replaced in the spring with an insulated steel heavy duty door and code compliant hardware. The windows and doors should be installed in April. As the new windows are installed, new air conditioning will be provided for the choir room.
Our fire suppression system for the kitchen range hood no longer meets current code requirements. This system will be replaced during the first quarter of 2107.
As you may know, there has been an active group of parishioners who have endeavored to duly document all of our lighting and determine how best to economize using updated lighting technology. As they finalize their work and determine what lighting changes should be made, those changes and updates will be implemented. We are beginning with the lighting in the church as that was one of the areas identified as having the greatest energy saving.
