I’m writing this the day after all of our program kick-off events. The brunch was delicious—thank you to the 9th grade confirmation class and teachers for preparing the food for everyone—and I think all of the kids and families found their classrooms and teachers pretty well. It’s going to be a terrific year of faith formation and also a year of fun community building (kids and parents alike) and I would like to take a few minutes and highlight a few things that are on the calendar for October and November.
Sunday, October 6th there will be no Sunday morning programs because we will be blessing our animal friends during the celebration of the Feast of St. Francis. That means no Sunday School or Youth Forum or Adult forum, but please plan to bring your best furry, feathered, or scaly friend to receive a special blessing during the 8:45am service or after the 10:45am service.
Sunday, October 13th begins our official practices for the Children’s Choirs. There will be an “open house” event on Sunday, September 29th from 10:45am to 11:15am so that families and kids who are interested can check it out before rehearsal starts.
Friday, October 25th from 6pm to 8pm will be “Jammies and Movies”, for our elementary school down to 3-year-old crowd. The movie is yet to be determined—do you have a good one that all of the kids would like?Email me and let me know!
Sunday, October 27th at 1pm is our Youth Group (6th through 12th grade!) trip to Simmons Farm for a hay ride and trip to the pumpkin patch. We will need drivers for this event, most likely—please email me and let me know if you are able to help with this well in advance so we know how many kids we can take.
Sunday, November 3rd will be one combined worship service at 9:45am, due to All Saints Day.There are no Sunday morning programs—no Sunday School or Youth forum. There ARE Sunday evening activities for the youth.
Finally, Sunday, November 24th will be one combined worship service at 9:45am, and the Bishop will be visiting and our 9th graders will be confirmed. Please plan to attend to show our congregation’s support during this mature affirmation of their faith, and take the opportunity to worship with the Bishop.
Here is our schedule for October and November—as usual, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or problems or if you just want to talk.
Blessings to All,
