St. Paul’s is delighted to welcome and introduce to you three new Choral Scholars. Funded by Friends of Music (FOM) and a loyal donor to FOM from outside the parish, we welcome these young singers from Duquesne University as we continue to audition new Choral Scholars for this program year.
Two of our singers, pictured on the left and center of the photograph, are new students at Duquesne.
Collin McCormick sings Bass and is a Music Education major. Collin reports that he has been singing most of his life, for 15 years, and enjoys spending time with his family and playing football. Collin wants to mention that he is extremely thankful for the members of the church welcoming him, and looks forward to worshipping the Lord with us through music for a long time to come!
Isabel Barton sings both in the soprano and alto section. She is from Tallahassee, Florida, warmer climes, indeed! Also a freshmen at Duquesne University, Isabel is pursuing a degree in music therapy. In addition to her experience in choral singing, she has been a cantor at St. Stephen Lutheran church (ELCA) in Tallahassee and enjoys sharing her voice with others.
Pictured to the right is Rosemarie Spollen, a senior at Duquesne University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in classical and operatic voice, and with plans to graduate in 2022. Rose is from Alexandria, VA where she has taught voice and sung in state and regional honors choirs. At Duquesne she sings with the University Voices of Spirit and has performed with their baroque ensemble, Duke's Music. In addition to her work as a Choral Scholar, both at Church of the Redeemer in Squirrel Hill and now with us at St. Paul’s, she has served as cantor at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA.
St. Paul’s Choral Scholars sing with the Chancel Choir at 10:45 am and we will soon enjoy their voices in solo and small ensemble singing. The purpose of the program is to identify talented college aged singers and award them a stipend for singing with us while St. Paul’s provides them with a special experience in sacred music singing.
Please greet Collin, Isabel and Rose on Sunday mornings and welcome them to St. Paul’s!
