Journey with Jesus
16 weeks of getting to know Jesus and Jesus gets to know you
Beginning Saturday September 19th at 8am we will renew our ongoing journey to Christ using Ignatian Spiritually and the Ignatian 28 day retreat as our process and guide. We will meet every week except the Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas week. We will finish late January.
There will be a Zoom meeting on Tuesday September 8 at 7pm to discuss the program. Cynthia Walter, Frank Horrigan and Ted Babcock will co-lead the discussion and answer any questions you might have. Please join us. The Zoom link will be sent by St. Paul’s.
Simply the process is as follows
We will meet weekly for an hour with some breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years. There will be three different groups. One guided my Ted Babcock, one by Frank Horrigan and one by Cynthia Walter. The groups will be at different times so finding a convenient group should not be an issue.
Missing a few classes is okay, though not recommended. If you are unable to make a class, we will find a way for you to make it up. However, each class missed is a missed opportunity to build a deeper relationship with your fellow travelers. Missing more than 2 or 3 classes may negatively impact your overall experience and the experience of your group as you drop in and out.
Preparation for the group is done by you on a daily basis and can take as little as 20 minutes and as much as you wish. The target is to do an hour of preparation each day, but everyone is different and goes through different phases of commitment so variance in time devoted to the exercises will vary for each of us.
During your daily time with scripture, prayer, journaling and finally doing the Examen prayer at the day’s end, it is important that you find a place that works for you where there is relative quiet and few distractions. Some pray at a desk, others in a chair and still others while on a hike. The same with journaling. Some write, some compose music, and others create visual art. Each person selects the medium that best communicates to them about their experience with God.
