Dear Parish Family,
By now you have probably heard about the upcoming 9-week program Learning to Pray that was conceptualized by our very own Rev. Ted Babcock and developed by Cynthia Walter, Mark Lamendola and me.
This program facilitates building a routine of prayer by offering exploration into the many ways that one can pray. Prayer is fed each week by broad questions and scripture references that will allow small group reflection on the ups and downs of building this amazing new habit.
The Learning to Pray course will begin Saturday June 13th and will run until August 22nd. We will take the July 4th weekend off. It is built around small groups of 5-6 people per group, each with its own trained leader to guide you. The initial two meetings will be all of us together then we will break up for 6 weeks of experiential learning, followed by a closing meeting with all of us together again. The small groups will meet for 1 hour per week at a time agreed to by the group. It is hoped that the integrity and strength of each group will grow with your attendance at each meeting but this is not a requirement. We will meet via Zoom so we can continue to practice safe distancing while we build new interpersonal relationships. If you are interested in this exciting new program, please email the Rev. Ted Babcock at [email protected] with your name and contact info ie: email and phone number. You can watch a conversation about this class here.
In my experience, being in a loving, spiritual community has allowed my personal prayer life to expand exponentially by opening my ears, mind, heart to new friends, new ideas about God, new ways to pray and think about my connection with the Holy Spirit. I am so looking forward to this time with new friends.
All the Best,
