YOUTH HAPPENINGS May/June 2019
I can’t believe we are talking about the end of the program year! NO! Any way, there are still lots of events and activities coming up in the next few months, so mark your calendars.
All-Youth End of Year Cookout is May 22 from 5:30- 8 pm. If you have participated in any Youth program through the year, such as acolytes, EYC, MT’19, Praise band, you are invited to come celebrate! Burgers and dogs on the grill, fun and fellowship; we’ll give thanks for the past year and create excitement for the summer. We provide the meat and drinks and we ask families to bring a side dish, snack or dessert to share. Bring a friend and we’ll see you there!
Jr. EYC Middle school Youth Group Nights are Tuesday evenings from 6-8. What a group! We share in our Blessings, enjoy a meal, engage in a group activity and then enjoy each others company at free time in the comfortable youth room. All middle school age youth and friends are invited to join us most Tuesday nights throughout the year. Our final night of the program year is May 14. This a fun time to gather with others in a safe, friendly environment. Come join us and bring a friend!
Sr. EYC High school Youth Group Study Breaks meet on Wednesday nights, from 7-9pm. All high school age youth are invited to hang out in the comfortable youth room, enjoy munchies, play xbox, wii, foosball, Uno, or just chill. Take a break from your busy schedules and recharge with other cool youth. Our final night is May 15 so See you then!
Senior Recognition and Reception is Sunday, June 2. During the 9:45 combined service you will be recognized for your successes. After the service, there will be a reception in your honor in the Lounge. Families are invited to join in the celebration.
Youth Forum meets in the comfortable youth room, Sunday mornings at 9:45am. We catch up, share the Gospel reading and then talk about moments in our lives when we feel God’s presence. Our final forum is May 19. Youth 8th grade and older are invited to gather in this casual setting.
The next Youth Summer Mission Trip meeting is Wednesday night, May 15 from 7-8. Come early for dinner at 6:30 pm. As we get closer to June 16, each meeting becomes more important. Please try to attend. Mission Trip is open to all high school age youth (8th graders can participate this summer!) and adults as chaperons (we need you!). We are well into the plans for MT’19 but we still need your help! Contact Paul Barker with questions about this important life-changing experience. Registration forms are due so bring them to the May 15 meeting!
Next Mission Work Day is May 2 at The Table at Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community. All are welcome to participate in this important ministry. Sign up with Paul Barker to serve.
Acolyte Recognition! you all have been working so hard all year and your dedication to this important ministry is going to be celebrated! Sunday May 19, at the 945 am. ALL Acolytes are expected to attend this special service. Your service to the St. Paul's community will be recognized, thanked and celebrated! Acolytes, in their 2nd year of service, will receive their own Acolyte Cross. All acolytes will robe and the first 20 to arrive get to wear the NEW robes to be Blessed!! Exciting! Please, make every effort to attend. We will also have an all-parish breakfast after the service. Karen Viggiano invites you to help with preparing and bringing simple yet delicious stratas (egg casseroles). Check in with her at the donut table to let her know you plan to bring one. You can find the recipe at www.stpaulspgh.org/strata.
A training session will be scheduled soon, so be on the lookout.
I’m so glad to be a part of this incredible Youth Ministry and looking forward to seeing you all soon!
