2017 will be a splendid year for your St. Paul’s Music Ministry!
Over the past eight years our Friends of Music (FOM) Fund has built reserves for planned capital expenditures that our parish budget cannot afford. Listed below are two of those recent initiatives and ways for you to help us restore our FOM fund balance.
In January we fully paid for the purchase of our new church piano. The week of March 13, thirty new chairs will be delivered for the chancel where the choir sits and sometimes where we present Taize services and other liturgical activities. I wish to thank the choir who helped select the design, fabric and helped to fund the overall purchase. To fully fund the expense, we are offering an outstanding recital by local operatic artist, Alexandra Loutsion. Pre-purchase of tickets is not required but early admission and a $20 donation is requested. Her recital immediately precedes later that week her leading role in Puccini’s opera, Turandot being presented by the Pittsburgh Opera. Please see the attached invitation and announcement below.
So as you can see, February and early March are packed with exciting concerts and social event offerings. Don’t miss Mike’s Café on Saturday, February 18- a “A Winter Hawaiian Feast!”
Our next Friends of Music Concert is February 5 at 2pm. Ring in 2017 with Voces Solis presenting “despite the snow: Music for Midwinter.” We’ll keep the cold at bay with a program featuring Morten Lauridsen’s masterwork for choir and piano, Mid-Winter Songs as well as music by Voces’ 2017 Composer in Residence, Davis Good. All tickets for the concerts are $10.00 and will be sold before each concert and at the door.
