I have always found September as a time of excitement, anticipation. I grew up in the college town of East Lansing, Michigan, home of Michigan State University. Each September, the town would seem to “wake-up” from its summer slumber as 40,000 students returned to campus, almost doubling the size of this small mid-western town. And for me, September brought a return to school, new classes and reconnecting with friends. I still feel the same exhilaration and anticipation with September now, as our church building fills again with the sounds of Nursery School children during the day, and youth activities in the evenings, and our church programs beginning in full force on Sundays and throughout the week.
