Over the last number of months members of our members of the Children and Youth Commission, Confirmation Task Force and Youth Task Force have been imagining how to more deeply support the building of community and faith formation of our Middle School Youth.Right now, St. Paul’s has one of the largest number of kids in this age group in recent memory. We have been asking questions about what are our core values, how can our programs best support building of Christian community and form the faith of our youth, how can we build connection amongst parents and more deeply connect our youth to the life of the parish.
On Tuesday, May 28, a group of over 25 parents of middle schoolers gathered to discuss and share together our hopes for our programs.Together, we developed this list of values we hoped for our youth programs:
As a result, those gathered tweaked and affirmed a new plan for our middle school youth programs, both EYC and Confirmation Class.We believe that the values we share are reflected in the program concept. The program elements include:
The Children and Youth Commission, along with parish staff, will work to implement this program beginning in the fall of 2019.Please let either of us know if you want to be part of this work, or have more ideas or comments as the program develops.
