St. Paul’s 100th Anniversary in Mt. Lebanon Celebration
December 21 at 10:00 am at Washington Elementary School Auditorium
On December 21 1924, St. Paul’s held its first service in Mt. Lebanon. Before the parish’s move to Mt. Lebanon, it served the community of Laceyville, now Pittsburgh’s Hill District. When the parish was moved to Mt. Lebanon, for the first five years we worshipped in the auditorium of Washington School (now Washington Elementary School on Washington Road in Uptown Mt. Lebanon) until the current building was completed. We will begin our celebration of St. Paul’s 100th year in Mt. Lebanon with a special service on December 21, 2024 at 10:00AM in the Washington Elementary School auditorium – right where it all started!
The first service in 1924 was a service of Christmas music; we will be continuing that theme with our anniversary service this year. As part of this celebration, we will be preparing a time capsule with items from every group, ministry and activity of St. Paul’s in 2024. The time capsule is to be eventually placed under the renovated St. Margaret’s Garden worship space when it is refurbished as part of our upcoming Capital Campaign. The items for the time capsule will be presented and collected during the offertory during this special service. Please plan to join us on this important day in the life of our parish.
I also want to invite you to join in marking the season of Advent as we prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ at Christmas. Below, please find the link to our Advent page with our offering during the Advent and Christmas seasons.
Peace,
The Reverend Noah H. Evans
Rector
