Did you know that the Right Rev. Michael Curry – the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church – will be coming to Pittsburgh in February? Our Diocese has been selected as the site where he will launch the next initiative of the Jesus Movement.
Many of you may have seen Bishop Curry through his periodic video holiday or other messages. In fact, his Christmas message can be seen here. Others may remember that we watched his installation (and sermon) at St. Paul’s, or heard him preach at last year’s Trinity Institute. You may also remember his recent book – Crazy Christians. The Bishop will be coming here the weekend of February 4-5, to celebrate Absalom Jones and to launch a national “revival” to give us the tools to share our stories. If you’re curious about how we will do this, or what it’s all about, join us Sundays in January at 9:45, as we watch some of the Presiding Bishop’s videotaped sermons and conversations to inspire and equip us for ministry. Bishop Curry has said that the events in Pittsburgh are for “reconcilers and evangelists.” Or maybe they are just for people who want to take the next step forward in doing the work we started last year in Invite-Welcome-Connect. If you’re curious about what those steps might be, or you think you might be called to take part, join us on Sunday Jan. 8, 15, and 22.
