By Katy Williams- your humble Artist in Residence
Choral singing has been a lifeline to me throughout my life. As a young incoming freshman at CMU, I sought employment to help pay some of my living expenses. I worked as a nanny, a checkout girl at Blockbuster video in Squirrel Hill and a librarian’s assistant for work study. All were minimum wage jobs that I was happy to have. But perhaps the most exciting one was when I was hired as a church vocal soloist. I sang. I performed. I practiced my craft. With the money that I earned, I bought groceries and paid bills. Without that opportunity, I would have missed out on choral and sacred music literature, working with a church family and exploring my faith. St Paul’s Choral Program enables a new, aspiring singer a chance to thrive. Please support this program with your financial gift.
