This continues to be an exciting time in the life and ministry of St. Paul’s. We have just celebrated the installation of the new solar panels. There will be several additional projects being done this summer to improve our church building.Following is a brief description:
Assistant Rector’s Office: As we prepare to welcome The Rev. Laura Di Panfilo the office she will use will be refreshed. The walls will be painted, and new carpet installed.
Intern Office: The walls have been painted and the carpet will be stretched to remove wrinkles that have developed.
Nave Carpet:The existing carpet in the nave is deteriorating.Several seams have parted and experts we have consulted could not offer a method for a durable repair. We will replace the carpet in the Nave. The replacement will cover almost the same area currently carpeted so as not to change the acoustics. A committee was organized to review the options and they have selected a color much like the existing carpet.Replacement should be done next month.
Masonry Repair:While investigating the source of a small leak, our roofer discovered deterioration of masonry in the areas on the upper south (parking lot) side of the main church building. We asked a contractor to have a look and they used a drone to film these areas. This confirmed the poor condition, and we have contracted to have repairs made. The work is scheduled for mid-August and will involve the erection of scaffolding in the area.I’ll provide further updates as to the exact dates and times.
Kitchen Improvements: We will be making some enhancements to the under-counter storage areas that will improve both efficiency and sanitation. Thanks to Claudia Circle for their generous support of this work.
Updates to Meeting Areas:Thanks to you that have provided feedback on improvements. In summary, the conclusion is to make the Conference Room a more comfortable an efficient venue for meetings and not to alter the Lounge. We will proceed with planning and surveying of new equipment and furniture. The new “smart board” acquired recently has already shown to be a great resource. While it is portable, it can be used effectively in the Conference Room.
I appreciate the continuing good work of our Sextons, Bill Higgins, Donald Scott, and Scott Scoville. This summer we have Matthew Vines and Harriss Barker joining us to help with these a variety of other projects. Thanks to the people of St. Paul’s for your encouragement and support. Please contact me if you have questions or comments.
