St. Paul’s generously supports several outreach projects each Christmas. New projects might be added each year. Current projects are the Seaman's Institute Christmas on the River, the Severe Weather Emergency Shelter, Trinity Cathedral Walk-In Mission, Church of the Atonement Christmas Day Dinner, and the South Hills food pantry.
St. Paul’s coordinates the collection and packing of gifts that will be given to the seamen working on the Pittsburgh rives at Christmas through the Seamen’s Church Institute. The Seamen’s Church Institute is an affiliated service organization of the Episcopal Church dating back to 1834.
Each year, the families who participate in SHIM’s programs are invited to the Angel Emporium where they select new gifts to exchange with their families. Parents pick gifts for children. Children select presents for their parents. Seniors pick out what might be their only gift of the season. Parishioner s provide an abundance of gifts for children, youth, and adults.
