Adult Mental Health First Aid Training

April 11 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

in the Conference Room

In response to our nation’s mental health crisis, St. Paul’s is sponsoring the first of two Mental Health First Aid trainings. This groundbreaking skills-based course gives people the tools to identify, understand and respond to someone who might be struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge — and connect them with appropriate support and resources when necessary.

Unlike physical conditions, symptoms of mental health and substance use problems can be difficult to detect. Friends and family members may find it hard to know when and how to step in. As a result, those in need of mental health services often do not receive care until it is too late. Just as CPR helps even those without clinical training assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. The training will be taught by parishioner Anita Kinsley, who is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. Training materials will be provided by St. Paul’s.

Please bring a bag lunch.

The deadline to register is Thursday, April 4.For class registration, or additional information, contact Anita Kinsley [email protected] or 215-842-1678

A second course, Youth Mental Health First Aid Training, specifically addressing the needs of youth who may be experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, will follow on Saturday May 18, from 9am – 5pm. Please note these are two stand-alone classes, and you may sign up for one or both of these classes.
