Holy Spirit Walks
“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” – Matt 11:28
After an exceptionally long season of screens and limited social interaction, this summer we want to invite you into a season of connection and contemplation in the outdoors. God created the heavens and earth long before you and I were here, and before our neighborhoods, towns and parks were even created. Being close to the land, and to nature, helps us to see God’s fingerprints laid on the world around us. Spending time in God’s creation can shift our perspective, deepen a sense of gratitude, and help us to see our place in the world. Medical research has also shown it can reduce stress and improve physical and mental health. Taking a Holy Spirit walk in nature is somewhat like entering a church sanctuary. It will help us to connect with a reverence for the presence of God; being mindful of the land, its history and significance in our lives.
Holy Spirit Walks are short hikes or strolls in nature, led by various members of our community, which will involve times of prayer, reflection and connection with one another, God’s creation and God. Below is a schedule of walks you can join in this summer. There are also resources you can use yourself, or with your own household, as a spiritual practice. If you feel inspired to join in leading a Holy Spirit Walk, please reach out to Mark Lamendola, Lisa Brown or Noah Evans.
