Confirmation

In Confirmation classes, 7th-9th graders learn about their faith and what it means in the larger context of the Episcopal Church, helping our youth to understand what they are saying “yes” to if they choose to be confirmed. When they say “yes” during their Confirmation, they are reaffirming all of the promises that were made for them at their baptism – adding their “yes” to God’s “yes.” At Confirmation, they are saying “yes” to being an active, faithful member of the larger body of Christ’s church and they are saying that they will strive to bring God’s kingdom here to Earth every day, striving to love and serve both God and neighbor.

Our Confirmation curriculum is called Chosen Together, and it is a multifaceted program that delves into the Bible, prayers, the Ten Commandments, and other sacraments. It also pairs each confirmand with a mentor – a member of the congregation who will share their own faith journey and be available to the youth for their own questions during their Confirmation experience. Service opportunities are also a big part of the Confirmation curriculum. Serving the larger community is an excellent way for the confirmands to learn more about people in their community who may have a wholly different life experience than they do.

Bob Melvin

Youth Minister and Director of 8:45 Music

Bob joined the St. Paul’s staff in August 2021, bringing a deep love of both music and community to his roles, and having spent most of his adult life in the neighborhoods where those streets intersect. He has a degree in journalism from Penn State University–where he met his future wife when she arrived for graduate school and he, after graduation, had decided to stay and start a band–and has spent time as a writer, musician, and stay-at-home dad.

Bob lives in Dormont with his wife Karen and his sons Elijah and Jack, and they have joyfully attended St. Paul’s since 2014.

Kristen Morgan

Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministry

Kristen’s background is in nursing. She earned her BSN from Lycoming College in 1999, and earned her MSN and certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care in 2003. Kristen worked at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1999 to 2012, caring primarily for pediatric cancer patients. Since that time, she has worked for Ohio University’s online RN-to-BSN Program as an adjunct faculty member as well as a teaching assistant. She loved taking care of children and their families at the bedside, and now enjoys using her own experiences to better prepare a new generation of professional nurses.

Kristen and her husband, Doug, have been married since 2003 and joined St. Paul’s as members in 2009. They have two sons, Dylan, and Noah, both of whom epitomize what it means to be “active” members of the church. Kristen’s family also has a dog, Chloe, who acts as a furry companion and best friend for all of them.

Kristen taught the kindergarten Sunday School class for two years, and also worked alongside Lisa Brown as the Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry. Kristen loves working with the children of St. Paul’s, and she enjoys building relationships with them, between them, and among their families.

Why Give? God asks us to share our time, talent and treasure. A life of generosity is at the root of Christianity. We encourage you to think about what a meaningful gift would be for you.

When you give to St. Paul's you help fund our ministry in the community, our worship, and the staff that supports our community as we strive to be God's hands and feet in the world.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support.

Give Now

Pledging is a covenant made to contribute a certain amount of money over a period of time. Our stewardship campaign is asking parishioners to let us know what they will be able to contribute to St. Paul's in 2022 so that we can plan for our mission and ministry in the coming year. As a member of our community, we invite you to participate in our annual stewardship campaign through your personal financial pledge.

Note: This year we are moving to a new company for online giving: Breeze. To access online giving through Breeze, please click here.

The St. Paul's Endowment Fund is the cornerstone of a long-range program to provide future financial stability for the parish. It is created through bequests of money and property. Once, invested, the bequests provide income for the special needs of the parish and designated programs.
